I grew up on the Oregon coast and came to Tacoma to attend University of Puget Sound. After graduation, I did college ministry for two years before I started seminary at Fuller Seminary in Seattle. I graduated in 2003 with my Masters of Arts in Theology. Before coming to Urban Grace in 2008, I worked for six years in the Missions department at Chapel Hill Presbyterian in Gig Harbor. My husband, Sean, and I met in seminary and have been married since 2004. I enjoy traveling, throwing parties, movies (especially ones with twist endings) and reading good fiction. I’m grateful to be a part of the ministry of Urban Grace in big and small ways.

Hello! For those of you who do not know me, my name is Taryn. I moved to Tacoma in January to be closer to my fiancé who then introduced me to Urban Grace. I have attended ever since and have also been the office manager here for the past few months. It has really been a great experience for me because it has given me the opportunity to get to know you a little better and now maybe you can get to know me. I originally grew up in the Midwest and graduated from Luther College. I enjoy growing just about anything, but especially fruits and veggies. I like to cook and bake bread. I love to read, write, and sing. But most meaningfully, I like to help people. I have volunteered with various nonprofit organizations my whole life and am currently in the process of joining the board of directors for one in Tacoma. This is why I am really excited to begin my internship here at Urban Grace. I love you all and everything that you do for the community here in Tacoma and am proud to have the opportunity to be a part of it now.

Board of Trustees: Meets every first Tuesday
Our Trustees are a team of volunteers, appointed by the Council, to oversee the financial, facility and policy details of Urban Grace. They report to the Council on a regular basis. Contact: trustees@urbangracetacoma.org
